CanHope stands for Cancer survivors Helping
Others through Positive Encouragement.
This group is the volunteer arm of the Foundation. It is comprised of both cancer survivors
and others closely touched by cancer, as well as individuals who simply care about helping others.
If you are a survivor, or if you just want to learn how to better offer support to a friend or loved
one who is going through cancer, or
you wish to volunteer to help the Foundation, you are welcome to join us.
CanHope
volunteers are generally notified of events by email or phone, and may choose to assist in a variety of acitivies, including
community educational and outreach events as well as fundraisers. Several meetings are held throughout
the year to introduce new members, to socialize and to exchange ideas.
Some CanHope cancer survivors and family members
also choose to participate in the Foundation's montlhy Emotional Support Group. These Support Group meetings are held
on the third Wednesday of each month, at 3 p.m., in the Parlor at the First Baptist Church of Aiken. The Parlor,
at the back of the main Sanctuary, can be accessed from both the Chesterfield and Barnwell entrances.
